Tropical Twos! { Manassas Child Photographer }
August 26th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Children, Manassas, Northern Virginia |
A couple of months ago I took the family portraits of this awesome toddler. He’s grown so much in such a small period of time! We got him all dressed up for a very tropical studio shoot and had loads of fun. He had a much better time with the camera this time. I think the studio setup and lights were really interesting for him to play around with. He seemed to get a big kick out of my faux hardwood floor.

Maternity Elegance { Warrenton Maternity Photographer }
August 16th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Maternity, Warrenton |
Pregnancy is a beautiful time for a woman. I try to emphasize this in my approach to maternity photography. A woman should feel gorgeous, elegant, and powerful when pregnant. I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful woman just before her third trimester started in full swing. This was so much fun! We did a mixture of studio work and outdoor work.

Keep your eyes peeled for the newborn portraits in a couple of months!!!
Toddler Mayhem { Manassas Child Photographer }
July 12th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Children, Manassas, Northern Virginia |
Toddlers are one of the more fun ages to photograph. A lot of people may dread photographing toddlers, primarily because they don’t sit still for more than a couple of seconds, so getting those nicely posed shots with a smile and looking at the camera is next to impossible. Unless you know what they like and then sometimes you just have to let the kids run run run! I think if you let the toddler do what it wants then you get more natural shots and less tantrums. I had a great time capturing these portraits of a very active little girl. Miss K liked to run and be chased. I chased her all over the park but we got some good shots. She was interested in the chair and we let her play with it a bit before putting her up in it.

Stay tuned for information on family specials! I plan to run this special between September and November to give families plenty of time to plan for the Holidays.

A Newborn Beauty { Manassas Newborn Photographer }
July 6th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Manassas, Newborn |
I love newborn portraits! It’s always so exciting to see new babies and capture those precious moments when they are sleeping. Back in April I took maternity portraits for a very lovely couple. This past weekend I had a chance to take their newborn baby girl’s portraits. Little A was a beauty! She slept the entire time, well, except for when we needed to swaddle her. It was seriously the easiest newborn session I had ever had.

More Maternity Fun! { Warrenton Maternity Photographer }
June 28th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Maternity, Warrenton |
Wow what a scorcher of a season we’re turning out to have! I was happy that this gorgeous maternity model was willing to trek out into the heat on a Sunday morning to capture some great portraits. Warrenton is so nice. I love the old town feel to images. I think it brings a little funk and country to the style of an image. We started out around 9am and wrapped up close to noon. Lots of fun and loads of images that I have captured! For those considering maternity sessions in the near future, multiple outfits really help bring variety to your session! We had no trouble getting really good shots and the outfits helped bring a little extra something to each one.
Enjoy your sneak peek S!!!

Interested in a maternity session? Make sure to book now! The summer slots are filling up quickly, so if you’re anywhere between 28 and 32 weeks, we need to get you on the books ASAP! Make sure to ask about the Belly-2-Baby session package!

Gorgeous Senior { Fairfax Senior Photographer }
June 21st, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Fairfax, Northern Virginia, Senior |
I love taking the portraits of high school seniors. They’re so full of energy and ready to embrace whatever the world wants to throw at them! I have known this senior since she was 11 years old, which makes me feel quite old, of course, but it was an honor to be able to take her portraits. Congratulations J!!!

Apple Girl { Manassas Child Photographer }
June 20th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Children, Manassas, Northern Virginia |
Toddlers are always fun, though unpredictable and Miss E was extremely happy to see me and didn’t mind the camera at all, which was surprising! She reminds me a lot of my niece. We’d set her down and she’d run off. It was fun, and gave me quite a workout, especially since I have started to push myself away from using zoom lenses. I had to kick off the shoes and chase! She was so full of energy and happiness. You may recognize her from my Fresh Faces 2010 contest. She won second place back in March!
I will say the trick with toddlers is to give them things to play with, interesting things that they may not have seen before. I picked up a little basket and filled it with beautiful, organic Macintosh apples just for the occasion. She really enjoyed them! Each apple had tiny nibbles on them by the time she was done.

Paul & Damiana – Married! { Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer }
June 8th, 2010 by Georgia Nelson | Posted in Northern Virginia, Weddings |
I had the distinct pleasure of documenting the wedding of Paul and Damiana this past weekend. The weather held out against all odds and we were able to capture some wonderful moments of the couple and the ceremony. While I don’t do weddings often, I love them when I do! They’re so exciting and full of happiness for the couple. There’s so much emotion to capture in such an event. Congratulations to you both!
