This loving couple welcomed their beautiful daughter, “S”, to the world in mid-October. She had the distinct pleasure of being my first “newborn in the buff.” Normally I don’t pressure clients into this kind of newborn photography, because I believe it is up to the parents to decide how they want the portraits to be taken (clothes vs no clothes). I was excited for the opportunity to give it a shot!

Pregnancy is a beautiful time for a woman. I try to emphasize this in my approach to maternity photography. A woman should feel gorgeous, elegant, and powerful when pregnant. I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful woman just before her third trimester started in full swing. This was so much fun! We did a mixture of studio work and outdoor work.

Keep your eyes peeled for the newborn portraits in a couple of months!!!

Wow what a scorcher of a season we’re turning out to have! I was happy that this gorgeous maternity model was willing to trek out into the heat on a Sunday morning to capture some great portraits. Warrenton is so nice. I love the old town feel to images. I think it brings a little funk and country to the style of an image. We started out around 9am and wrapped up close to noon. Lots of fun and loads of images that I have captured! For those considering maternity sessions in the near future, multiple outfits really help bring variety to your session! We had no trouble getting really good shots and the outfits helped bring a little extra something to each one.

The first session with this lovely Tarheel alumni and her husband was cancelled due to rain, and gosh darnit, I wasn’t going to let it happen again when the weatherman said that we’d have a 50-60% chance of thunderstorms Sunday night. Thankfully, everyone was ready and willing to quickly get together Friday evening just before the storm clouds would hit us. Even though it was overcast, at least it wasn’t raining!

I’m so looking forward to when their little girl arrives!
