2011 in Review { Northern Virginia Photographer }

2011 was a wonderful year in many ways. Although I restricted my availability this year, I had many sessions and many wonderful moments captured for my clients. The introduction of my latest family member, Anne, has made life so much sweeter. Thank you to all of my wonderful clients who made 2011 an exciting year! I look forward to seeing you all again in 2012!
Five Month Cutie { Manassas Child Photographer }

Babies are so expressive and they grow so quickly! Oftentimes, it can be assumed that you cannot get decent portraits of a baby at that awkward phase where she starts to roll around, but not quite sit up yet. I’d argue that you can get some very endearing moments captured at this time! Unlike much of my indoor work, this is done with all natural light. Not all of my clients have wide open windows, so much of my indoor work is with studio lighting.

Everyone, meet C! It’s his first birthday, and as you can tell, he’s quite excited about it!!! C was a total ham for the camera. I have never done a first birthday session for a child so quickly in my life. We set up, he started smiling, I snapped away, and then we moved on to the cake smashing fun! It was a great pleasure to be able to capture these moments for C’s family.

I swear I look exactly the same way when I eat cake….This little man is so delicious. He could truly be on a hallmark card. Great color and just AWESOME expressions.

Ohhh, he’s such a cutie!!! I love how you captured his big smile and that sparkle in his eyes…just perfect for a 1 year old session. Cake smash pictures are always so fun to me…I love his outfit and his expressions while eating the cake:) The blue background was such a great choice and I love the variety you got. Such a beautiful and fun session!!!

Welcome Baby J! { Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer }

Meet Baby J! He is the latest addition to a wonderful family here in the Northern Virginia area. This is also the start of my obsession with the striped blue fabric. I just love how the lines draw your eyes in to the baby. I’m tossing away the crazy props, baskets, and other nonsense that distract the viewer from the baby. Pure and simple newborn photography. That’s the way I like it! J gave me a lot of great eye contact when he became a little more alert toward the end of the session. Hopefully he’ll be a little ham for the camera as he gets older!

Oh my goodness…what a doll. I love the sweet naturalness you kept in each photograph of him. I don’t even know how these parents are going to choose. I would have to have them all.
